Grain!

from $2.00

Some of the grain has been stored in half gallon jars a very long time.

Some of the grain has been stored in 5 gallon Corny kegs infused with CO2 for a very long time.

All of it has been stored in the container climate controlled in the summer (in the world of self-storage, climate controlled means it doesn’t get over 80°F) and frozen in the winter. What I have read is that you can store hops and grain for a year, maybe a bit more if it is frozen, maybe a bit more if it is oxygen free. I have also read that people have tried brewing old grain, and had some success, however, it can be inefficient since the enzymes won’t release as quickly.

You might want to pick some up to use for whatever you dream up, bird or livestock food, experiments. I cannot just toss it to the birds or the cattle without first offering it up. The jars are worth a bit and the kegs, of course, more. So buy the keg or the jar and keep the grain. Or if you just want the grain, it can be bagged in 2 gallon bags, but I don’t want to mess with it. The best way is to schedule a visit as it is not worth shipping.

These are some of the variations:

  • Crystal

  • Maris Otter Pale Ale

  • Victory British Pale Ale

  • Dark Wheat

  • Wheat

  • Flaked Barley

  • Flaked Wheat

  • Munich

  • Carafa

  • Great West

  • Chocolate

  • Caravienne

I also have a couple 5 gallon buckets of flaxseed and no idea why. This might be a nice treat for your livestock. Again, it is free and I am not shipping this stuff.
