The URT series backhoe ripper tooth is designed specifically for cutting through roots and tearing through hard or frozen soil.

The tooth is effective in slicing through roots and soil standard backhoe buckets cannot because all of the digging force of the backhoe is concentrated on the single leading edge of the ripper, as opposed to being distributed across the entire length of the cutting edge on a standard bucket.

A "scoop" feature on back side of the ripper also serves to add versatility to this tool. The scoop allows narrow trenches to be dug with the tool when desired.
